You’d think with my extensive family history of cancer that I would be terrified of developing cancer, and rightly so, but I’m not.
Hi, I’m Nikki from ChoosingDifferently.com and today I want to share with you the four reasons why I’m not scared of cancer.
So reason number one that I’m not scared of cancer is because I see cancer as a normal body process gone wrong.
Everybody has cancerous cells of some form in their bodies pretty much all the time.
It’s just simply a cell that starts to misbehave.
Something goes wrong, it starts to reproduce in a way that it’s not supposed to.
But normally what happens is that our immune system and our metabolism step up a response to those cells and remove them.
So I don’t see cancer as an outside invader coming in and invading my body, it’s my own cells gone wrong.
I don’t feel as afraid of it when I see it in that way – my own body, my own processes just gone wrong.
The second reason why I’m not scared of cancer is that I believe I have the power to do something about it, whether that’s through changing my diet, changing my exercise habits, detoxifying my body and my environment, meditating, doing whatever it is.
I believe that there are things that I can do, active steps that I can take, to both prevent the risk of cancer and to treat it in order to help my body to heal should it ever happen.
The third reason that I’m not scared of cancer is that it’s not a death sentence in my mind.
There are so many things that we can do these days.
You know the survival rates are increasing, there are so many options available to us that I don’t see it as a sign that this is the end of the road.
I love the expression cancer is a word not a sentence and I truly believe that.
The fourth reason that I’m not afraid of cancer is that I just don’t see fear as a helpful state to be in.
I know it’s so easy to fall into fear when we have these risks and these situations but when we’re in fear we feel helpless, we feel disempowered, that increases the stress in our bodies and in our minds and it makes it harder for us to deal with whatever is in front of us and it also just makes it harder for our bodies to deal with whatever’s going on.
And I know it’s sometimes challenging to choose differently when it comes to fear but it doesn’t help so I choose not to go into fear.
So those are the four reasons why I’m not scared of cancer:
- One, it’s a normal body process gone wrong.
- Two, I believe I have the power to do something about it.
- Three, it’s not a death sentence.
- And, four, fear just isn’t helpful.
So I hope you found that video useful.
I would love a like, a comment, and a share on my video.
